Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) saw its July sales register a 15.7-percent growth as the company sold 3,275 units, 445 units more than the 2,830 units sold by the Japanese carmaker in June.
Launched in July, the 1.6-liter Lancer EX models had the biggest growth at 397.4 percent after 189 units were sold for the month. MMPC's light commercial vehicles also registered a double-digit growth at 10.2 percent after moving 3,021 units out of the showroom. The Pajero's sales grew by 56.5 percent, followed by the Strada at 26.8 percent and the Adventure at 23.3 percent.
Sales of the locally produced Adventure and L300 models reportedly also did well, while the Montero Sport continued to be the best-selling SUV in the country with 7,863 units already sold since the start of the year. To date, MMPC has sold more than 40,000 units of the Montero Sport since it was introduced in the last quarter of 2008.
MMPC's truck sales also improved by 36 percent over June numbers, with year-to-date figures showing a modest increase in all the segments, allowing the company to capture 22.6 percent of the market and remain as the country's number two truckmaker.
For the second half of the year, MMPC is confident that it will continue to improve its market performance with the presence of the 1.6-liter Lancer EX and the launch of the all-new Mirage later this year.
"With the introduction of these new models, higher consumer spending, aggressive promotions and bank financing, MMPC is positive that it will sustain its remarkable growth, increase its market share, and achieve the goals set for 2012," MMPC said in a statement.
