Last week, toll operators announced they would be implementing discounts for public utility vehicles and cargo trucks. This is in light of a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the Department of Transportation to secure cost-saving opportunities for the transport sector, given the rapidly rising cost of fuel triggered by the war in the Middle East.
Both San Miguel (SMC) and Metro Pacific Tollways (MPTC) are offering discounts through toll rebates. The discounted toll rates take effect on March 23, 2026 for an initial two-week period.
Expressways with discountent toll fees starting March 23:
- North Luzon Expressway (NLEX)
- South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
- Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway)
- Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway
- Cavite-C5 Link Expressway (R1 Expressway Extension)
- Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX)
- Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX)

Provided that vehicles are in good standing with no traffic violations or unsettled payments with their respective toll operators, rebates will be credited to their accounts on a weekly basis. Toll operators have also expressed they are willing to provide extensions for the rebate program, if deemed necessary.
