We strongly believe we can never have too many green spaces in Metro Manila, which is why the initiatives to build more parks in different cities are always good news to us.

The latest one to pop up in the capital is in Manila City. Actually, the city technically has two new parks: the Senior Citizens’ Park and Community Pet Park. Both are located in a nearly one-hectare plot of land in Pandacan that was previously just a barren site collecting dust, litter, and all sorts of debris.

The new parks consist of open green spaces which both Manileños and their pets can enjoy. There’s plenty of greenery, walkways, and areas where people can utilize for various activities like exercise. There are also benches and a dedicated area where park-goers can try their hand at playing polo. In the dedicated spaces for fur babies and other animals, the city has also installed obstacles for pets to enjoy.

This new park was built through the partnership of the local government of Manila City, the Department of Budget and Management, and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. It has now officially opened just six months since the project broke ground in January.

What do we think, readers? Where would you like to see similar spaces like these open up next?
