Beginning midnight of January 12, 2025, a portion of Mindanao Avenue near Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City will be closed to traffic to give way to the construction of the Tandang Sora Station of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
The closure will last until 2028, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

“The Tandang Sora Station Box will be constructed beneath Mindanao Avenue,” said Atty. Romando Artes, chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in a press conference. “To be able to do so, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has to divert traffic in both south and northbound directions.”

In a separate advisory, the DOTr also announced the opening of the Mindanao Avenue Northbound Diversion Road on January 11. The agency is also advising motorists to “take alternative routes for faster navigation.”
The Tandang Sora Station is one of 17 stations of the Metro Manila Subway. It is the third station from the northernmost terminus of the 33.1km rail line, which will stretch from Valenzuela to Bicutan. A one-way end-to-end journey is estimated at 45 minutes.
