If you still haven’t felt the rising cost of goods lately, maybe you will now. According to a report by GMA News, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved a petition to raise the minimum jeepney fare from P8 to P10.

The news outlet was able to obtain a copy of the fare hike document that resolved to “grant the petition for a fare increase, to make permanent the provisional fare increase of P1 granted on July 6, 2018, and an additional P1 for the first four kilometers or a minimum fare of P10 from the original fare of P8.”

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTFRB have released a short statement telling the public to wait for an official copy of the document signed by the LTFRB executive director.

“We regret that a document on the fare hike was leaked even before it was certified as official,” the statement reads, adding that an official copy will be released once the document is signed and marked as docketed. The agencies have also asked drivers to wait for the official document before implementing the fare increase.
