Planning to do some last-minute Christmas shopping this Friday? If yes, then you might want to head to the mall early. Better yet, just don’t take a car at all because you’re probably going to be stuck in a sea of red lights.
According to a report by CNN Philippines, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is warning of a holiday ‘carmageddon’ on December 21, 2018. The agency expects traffic to be at peak congestion, with the average vehicle speed projected to be around 14kph instead of the usual 19kph.
The report adds that a 20-minute trip might end becoming 45 minutes long, and that expected choke points include EDSA, Balintawak, Cubao, Ortigas, Ayala, and Buendia. Yikes. You might want to think about whether or not that last stocking stuffer you’re planning to buy is worth the trouble.
This doesn’t sound good. Kind of makes us wish we had gotten Christmas shopping out of the way sooner this year. Do you plan on being out on the streets at all this weekend?
