The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is telling motorists to expect some traffic disruptions along EDSA and other areas of Metro Manila from January 15 to 19, 2019.
According to the agency, a stop-and-go traffic scheme will be applied to parts of the country’s busiest thoroughfare in line with the state visit of Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena from tonight until Saturday.
Affected areas include the vicinity of airports in Pasay City, roads in the Makati City business district, Pasig’s commercial district, Manila City, and Quezon City.
The stop-and-go scheme will be in effect whenever Sirisena’s vehicle convoy passes by, and roads will be opened immediately afterward, the MMDA says. You can check out the traffic agency’s full announcement in the embedded Facebook post below:
This doesn’t sound like too much trouble, to be honest. Hopefully, the MMDA can keep Manila’s roads flowing smoothly for the duration of Sirisena’s Philippine visit.
