Pioneer street may be a B road in Mandaluyong City, but it is a central location for many businesses and establishments, not to mention an artery for those coming from EDSA going to Kapitolyo or Pasig. Most of all, it can be a pretty bad spot for traffic at the worst of times. We should know, since that's where our office is located. On top of the traffic, there has also been a lot of road and drainage repairs happening, which has only made things worse.
A new traffic rerouting scheme will attempt to fix that. It's set to go on a two-week dry run from August 6 to 18, 2018. Under this new scheme, certain parts of Madison and Pioneer will be converted into one-way thoroughfares (see the diagram below to get a better idea).
There will also be rerouting done within the Robinsons Cybergate Complex. Notably, those uphill lanes beside the mall leading toward the much-dreaded U-turn slot on Pioneer will now be one-way. So if you're coming from EDSA and turning right into the mall, that final uphill left turn toward Pioneer will now be entirely one-way.
We're hoping this scheme works, and we say that on a personal level. Because a traffic-free Pioneer would make our lives a hell of a lot easier. And judging by the amount of cars we see squeezing through this street every day, we think it'll make other motorists' lives better too.
