The Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG) has scored anew against carjacking syndicates following the arrest of Efren Guisoben, tagged as most wanted car-theft gang leader in Northern Luzon.

Reports relayed by the PNP-HPG Cordillera Regional Office to Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina, PNP HPG director, said Guisoben was nabbed at Burnham Park in Baguio City at around 9am on July 6.

Espina said that Guisoben has a standing warrant of arrest issued by Judge Villacorta of the Baguio City Regional Trial Court in connection with several charges of vehicle theft.

Tagged by the PNP-HPG as a Level One carjack gang leader, the suspect belongs to the Bannawi Carnapping Gang categorized as a Hardcore Criminal Group under the 2011 Watchlist on Carnapping.

Among the group's victims were Santiago Tabin (owner of vehicle with license plate number AYC 820), Augusto Kalngan (TRR 802), and Patrick Malugay (TSL 754) whose vehicles were stolen and later converted into taxi units.
