Lost your car? You might find some relief in knowing the average response time of the Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) to a carjacking incident and other road-related crimes is between seven and eight minutes.
This was based on the results of a field-training exercise conducted with some 500 highway patrol units from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on May 31.
For the exercise, police authorities drafted a crime scene along Kalayaan Avenue corner C-5 Road in Makati City where they issued an alarm to PNP-HPG units in Metro Manila via telephone call to Patrol 117.
The NCRPO-HPG deployed several motorcycle-mounted policemen and mobile patrol cars that responded to the scene.
"Said activity ended after a short debriefing with very satisfactory results," an official HPG report obtained by TopGear.com.ph said.
According to HPG officials, similar field-training exercises will be conducted on a regular basis to further improve their response time to reported crimes.
