Suzuki Philippines is mulling the introduction of Japanese-made big bikes to boost its presence in the local market.
At the launch of the latest Suzuki Raider variants, the company displayed four big bikes which, according to senior marketing manager Benedict Martin T. Arreola, may be available in the Philippines by as early as the fourth quarter of 2009.
On display were muscular specimens of the Burgman 400, a touring scooter; VStrom DL650, a mid-weight dual sport motorcycle, BKing, a street bike; and the Hayabusa, a supersport motorcycle.
"We see a growth in the big bike market. When we introduce this, what we can offer is the experience when it comes to service," Arreola said.
He added most of the big bikes currently available in the local market are from the gray market. Hence, there is a lack of a dedicated after-sales service for the big bike units.
Suzuki Philippines, for its part, has 40 sales, service and spare parts shops nationwide.
