The environment-friendly Prius will be plying Philippine roads by the middle of the year. According to reports from national dailies, Toyota Motor Philippines vice chairman Alfred Ty said the company has just received the go-signal for the local distribution of the Prius from the Toyota head office in Japan.Toyota earlier said the Prius, a hybrid electric car, is not ready for the Philippine market due to local road conditions. Ty was quoted saying, however, that "things have changed" particularly for the hybrid."There's a market for that here, that's why we're bringing it here," Ty added. The Prius made its commercial debut in Japan in 1997 before it was sold globally in 2001.
