For those with a taste for classic cars going fast, Tuason Racing School (TRS) will be staging what it calls "Retro Touring Car Philippines" on October 28 at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
Open for cars made from 1985 and older, the retro race will be held per brand, thanks to the number of confirmed Volkswagen and Mini participants. Other cars from other makes and models can compete in the Old School open class. At the end of the day, one car will be named the overall winner.
According to TRS chief instructor JP Tuason, they can only accommodate 30 entrants to the race, with nearly all the slots having been filled already. A few slots are still available as we write this, with an entry fee of P2,000.
Adding a touch of nostalgia to the daylong event is JP himself driving his father Arthur Tuason's carefully restored Ford Escort on the track (see photo below).
So, if you've got an old-school car that you'd like to flog around a racetrack, or if you simply want to see a classic Porsche 911 going up against Volkswagen Beetles, this is an event you shouldn't miss.
