War vs 'wang-wang' hits Facebook

People-power goes hi-tech

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Anti-Wang-wang on Facebook

More than 4,000 Facebook users are now part of a Facebook page called Isumbong Mo Ang Wang Wang Dito roughly 22 hours after President Benigno Aquino III promised there will be no unnecessary display of power on the road in his term.

The page was activated just after Aquino delivered his inaugural speech as the 15th Philippine head of state on June 30.

Aquino said he has been a victim himself of being "rudely shoved aside by siren-blaring escorts of those who love to display their position and power."

The anti-wang-wang page asks users to report when and where an escorted vehicle was spotted. Names of the people who send the report are also being asked so a complaint may be formally filed, page administrator Darwin Mariano said.

Mariano said he will send the first report to Aquino next week.
