The BMW X3 is one of the most important models for the German carmaker. Spanning over 20 years and four generations, this ‘sports activity vehicle’ started out as an expansion of the brand’s crossover lineup. Today, it is BMW’s best-selling product worldwide.

Which is why the all-new model is crucial for the company’s success. Over 3.5 million have been sold since its introduction, and the previous generation contributed almost 1,200 units to BMW sales in the Philippines.

Since 2004, the X3 has constantly adapted to the ever-changing demands of car buyers—not just in terms of luxury and technology, but also in performance and efficiency. The latest iteration of that enduring quality is the BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport plug-in hybrid.

The BMW X3 over the years

First launched in 2004, the X3 initially supplemented BMW’s first SAV, the X5. Using the underpinnings of the highly lauded 3-Series, the very first model was praised for its dynamic handling and practicality.

The vehicle further evolved in its second generation with the implementation of more technologies and luxuries. For the third model, the formula was further refined to make the X3 one of the most solid, well-rounded, and versatile models offered by BMW.

The X3 today

Now in its fourth generation, the all-new BMW X3 is the most visually striking interpretation of this model yet. With a bold and adventurous design on the outside and a highly digitized minimalist cabin, the redesigned SAV seeks to elevate driving pleasure, comfort, and convenience.

More important, this generation ushers in the use of plug-in hybrid technology. With that, the X3 continues to adapt to the changing sensibilities of the BMW clientele, who now want an efficient and sustainable mode of mobility that still delivers the premium experience expected of the brand.

Guiltless and efficient performance

Powering the X3 30e xDrive is a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine mated to a single electric motor that benefits from BMW eDrive Technology. The battery for the electric system, meanwhile, has a capacity of 19.7kWh. The result? A combined power output of 299hp and 450Nm of torque, allowing the crossover to hit 100kph from a standstill in just 6.2sec and giving the driver maximum confidence in overtaking.

Not only that, electrification means this X3 can travel up to 90km on a full charge and deliver a fuel-economy figure of up to 111km/L on the WLTP cycle. In hybrid mode, it can still return up to 13.8km/L in mixed driving conditions. All in all, it combines the best that combustion engines and electric propulsion have to offer with ultra-low emissions, high performance, and no range anxiety.

Dynamic design and handling

This generation proudly wears the M Sport package, which includes a sharper set of front and rear bumpers, 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels, Shadowline highlights, and the distinctive Iconic Glow grille. All these combined give the crossover a standout appearance.

But beyond looks, driving pleasure is at the core of every BMW model, and the all-new X3 is no exception. Its larger wheels allow for a wider footprint on the road, further enhancing grip and roadholding. At the same time, the upgraded M Sport brakes offer stronger stopping power.

Lastly, the vehicle’s adaptive suspension keeps the body level and stable, thanks to shock absorbers that constantly adjust to road conditions and driving style. To simplify, this suspension arrangement keeps the ride soft to ensure that occupants ride in comfort, but stiffens up as needed when driving through winding roads or in an emergency maneuver.

Practical luxury through convenience and technology

Convenience and technology converge to create practical luxury, delivered by features that, once you’ve tried them, you won’t be able to live without. For instance, the BMW Driving Assistant bundles advanced driver assists such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assistance, and collision avoidance.

There’s more tech to be seen inside. The infotainment system uses iDrive Operating System 9, the fastest, slickest, and most advanced software to be installed in the latest BMW models. Speaking of which, front occupants are greeted by a 14.9-inch BMW widescreen display for the infotainment system, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The all-new X3 also gets a head-up display and augmented view for a more focused driving experience.

As a segment-first in the country, this latest generation comes standard with an interior camera that allows those at the front to see what’s going on in the back without craning their necks. The same camera can also take photos, so the X3 serves as an extension of memories along the way. Parents will be pleased to know that the rear seats are also equipped with tablet holders to keep the kids entertained.

Expanding the electrification portfolio

With the addition of the X3 30e xDrive in the local lineup, the Bavarian carmaker’s plug-in hybrid offerings are slowly increasing. Through this model and the X5 xDrive50e launched earlier in 2025, BMW Philippines is showing the market that practical electrification is possible without compromising on brand principles such as offering sheer driving pleasure.

The 2025 BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport is now available in the Philippines and priced at P4,790,000. Visit the nearest BMW dealership to learn more and drive one home today.
