For a country that has the best public transport in the world, one where even rich people commute, Tokyo still has a vibrant car scene. Being the capital of an undeniably wealth First World country, there are premium brands galore. But the pleasant surprises are the unique finds one encounters: a Lotus Esprit, an E30 BMW M3, and a quirky Suzuki off-roader among others.
I was on vacation in Tokyo recently, and while my capable team kept things running back in the office while I was recharging my mental batteries, I couldn't shut off the car guy in my head. So in between charming coffee shops and ramen meals I took photos of what I encountered on the road.
