Geely Motor Philippines is having quite the year. The Chinese brand’s sales have soared in 2026, thanks mostly to its compact crossover, the EX5, which comes in both plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions.
This revamp of the local lineup continues, as it has now added another promising new model to its stable: the all-new Geely Monjaro EM-i. This PHEV is bigger yet more affordable than the popular compact crossovers in the market. It lands in the Philippines as a solid alternative to various hybrids like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, BYD Sealion 6, and Ford Territory.

Exterior of the Geely Monjaro 2027

The Geely Monjaro looks like the classier, bigger brother of the Okavango and the Coolray. It shares similar styling with its Volvo cousins, particularly the XC60. There’s a large grille up front flanked by equally large headlamps. There are chrome bits on this front fascia along with the chunky black plastics with gray accents on the bumper. Claddings have only been fitted on the wheel wells, as the side panels only get gray trims that match the same plastics on the rear bumper. Speaking of the rear, there’s a light bar on the tailgate.
The Monjaro stands 4,800mm long, 1,895mm wide, and 1,700mm tall with a 2,845mm wheelbase and 189mm of ground clearance. It sits on 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels shod in Goodyear tires. Color options for the Geely Monjaro are: Cloud White, Night Black, Sky Blue, and Dawn Gold.
Interior

The Monjaro is a sizeable SUV, but it’s not a seven-seater. Geely stuck with a five-seat configuration, which has opened up plenty of legroom for all five passengers and a large trunk at the rear. As standard, you’re looking at 633 liters of cargo space in the back; with the second-row seats folded, rear cargo expands to 1,532 liters.
The interior is clad in an abundance of leather with the occasional plastics here and there. Wood trim has been fitted onto the center console, with a crystal knob right smack in the middle. As an added touch, there’s a mountain etched onto the passenger side of the dash—it’s Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa and the world’s largest free-standing mountain. It’s where the Monjaro gets its name.
The perforated seats are stitched with a mix of leather and suede, with heating, ventilation, and massage functions up front. The driver’s seat features eight-way power adjustment, while the passenger seat gets four-way power adjustability.
Engine and specs of the Geely Monjaro 2027

The Geely Monjaro EM-i comes powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with dual electric motors, and it gets an all-wheel-drive layout. It packs a 29.8kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The hybrid system puts out a total of 335hp and 667Nm of torque, allowing the Monjaro to do 0-100kph in 5.83sec.
The Monjaro supports DC charging of up to 78kW and AC charging of up to 6.6kW. On battery power alone, it can reach up to 130km (NEDC); with a full charge and a full tank of gas, it can do 1,095km (NEDC). It has V2L capabilities.
The suspension setup underneath comprises MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup at the rear. Front and rear ventilated disc brakes provide stopping power. The Monjaro also gets electric power steering.
