What was the video game console of your youth? If you said the first PlayStation, you’re likely a child of the ’90s. The original PlayStation was one heck of a revolution in the world of gaming that also brought us many iconic titles.
In the world of driving games, graphics became more realistic (at the time), while controls and physics was worlds apart from previous consoles. Nearly 30 years have passed since its introduction, too, so now is a good time to take a trip down memory lane…with Lewis Hamilton

The seven-time Formula 1 champion took some time off to fire up a classic PlayStation to play some driving games that defined the ‘90s. The champ also took some time to mention other games he played back then, as well as the lengths he went to be able to buy a PlayStation.
Hamilton mentioned that it ‘took him ages’ to get one, saying that he washed cars for two years before he could get one. No handouts here, just pure hard work. Lewis fans would know that he wasn’t born into a racing dynasty or with millions in the back, making his story a tad more relatable for those who worked hard to get what they want. His parents eventually bought him one, but they had to return it because he needed a new helmet. Priorities.

Anyway, what were some of the titles he revisited? He started off with Driver, followed by F1 2000. The team he’d always drive in the latter was, of course, McLaren, as he was a junior driver for the team at the time. It wouldn’t be a racing game throwback without Gran Turismo. It looks like he has a thing for ’90s Skylines, having chosen an R33 GT-R for a quick lap.
Did you play the same games as Lewis Hamilton? Some of the other ones he mentioned were Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Crash Bandicoot. All those games are making us wish we were back in the ’90s. Oh, simpler times indeed.
