When DJI lent us the Power 2000 to test, it was one of those things that we really did not know what to expect. Yes, it’s a massive power bank the likes of which we have never seen in person, but also… it was just a power bank, but bigger?
Only when it was delivered to our office, and it took two people considerable effort to carry it up, did we realize that it was much more than ‘just’ a power bank by our favorite gadget maker, DJI.
Here are five reasons why you should consider the DJI Power 2000 as your next power source.
1) It’s a generator and UPS in one

More than a power bank, the DJI Power 2000 is a literal generator set replacement. While gas generators usually require the handling of gasoline, an electric generator like this one only requires power from either a normal 220v connection—where it can charge from 0-80% in just 55min—or its solar panels.
This means that with some areas suffering rotating brownouts these days, the DJI Power 2000 can act as an uninterruptible power supply, kicking in automatically when it detects the power shutting off, protecting your gadgets and sensitive electronics.

2) It can be used indoors

Unlike traditional generators, this one can be kept indoors, which is a boon for those living in condominiums or townhouses. It, along with its, well, portable nature (it has its own trolley), means that you can easily move it from your storage area to your parking space without much trouble.
This opens up some interesting possibilities because…
3) It is completely silent

With the cooling fan running, it runs at a very quiet 30dB, which is quieter than most electric fans. This means that you are likely to have gadgets attached to this that are noisier. This makes it perfect for car camping, as nothing is more annoying than your camp neighbor with his gas generator puttering about just as you are getting ready for sleep.
As an additional benefit, instead of having to invest in a lot of gear to set up your vehicle for power applications and charging, you can just hook this up to the car’s fast charger, and use it to power your car refrigerator, as well as any gadgets or camp gear you have when you arrive at your chosen destination.
4) It can power almost anything you can think of

With 2,048Wh of capacity and 3,000W continuous output, it has enough juice to run most of your appliances—including electric induction cookers and microwaves. And just so you can better imagine it, it can charge a laptop around 18 times, or your smartphone an insane 114 times before running out of juice. A normal powerbank, this isn’t, but it can be treated like one if you’d like.
5) It can be expanded

Stupidly, you can connect up to 10 2,048Wh expansion batteries in one system, boosting the capacity to an absurd 22,528Wh, which is enough to power your house in an outage, at least for a time. Combine that with the solar panels that you can buy separately, and the DJI Power 2000 is your first step to off-grid living.
I think it is time to test this head-to-head with a gasoline generator to see which is truly the king of convenience and portable power.
