The latest entry in the collaborative ‘Dream Tomica’ series is here, and it’s a bit left field. Tomica typically works with anime and video game IPs for its collabs, but this time it has linked up with footwear giant Converse to make sneaker-themed diecast cars based on the Converse All Star.
Six colors are available in the Dream Tomica Converse All Star Collection—red, black, yellow, green, blue, and beige—and will be available in blind box format. And since these are tagged as ‘Vol. 1,’ it’s hinted at that there’s more to come from this collaboration. Will you be hunting down the full collection, or just try sniping for your favorite color?

As is with most diecast Tomica models, these sneaker-cars accurately replicate the proportions of their real-life inspiration—the Converse All Stars. There’s plenty of detail to be found here, from the stitching and lace holes down to the waffle-pattern outsole.

The real kicker here is that these are convertibles. Out of the box, they come as standard All Star His that end around the ankle. But the top bit can be removed to transform it into a low-cut All Star Ox (short for Oxford) that also reveals more unique car parts like the small windshield and open cockpit.

The execution is surprisingly well done, and the low-cut’s natural silhouette naturally lends itself to a barchetta-like form factor. I think these are an instant collector’s item for sneakerheads, car guys, and diecast fans alike. The Dream Tomica Converse All Star Collection is coming June this year, with each blind box going for ¥1,100 or around P420 each.
