Cruisers never die!

Whoever said cruisers are a dying breed?

During the 25th National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) National Motorcycle Convention earlier this month, more than 3,000 riders from the different parts of the country rode to Iloilo City for this grand gathering of two-wheelers. The event was hosted by the Iloilo Motorcycle Club (IMC), the country’s oldest bike organization established in 1948—a time when Harley-Davidsons ruled the streets of Iloilo and the rest of Sugarlandia.

Fast forward to April 2019, and HD motorcycles from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao again found their way to Iloilo City for a nostalgic ‘unity ride,’ to the delight of Ilonggos who have known this iconic brand for generations. The HD riders came in full force, wearing their club vests adorned with patches and pins that depict their long journey of solid brotherhood.

Scenes like these inspire Harley-Davidson of Manila to bring in more of its exciting and iconic motorcycles to the country. Its newest offering is the 2019 Sportster Iron 1200, a sexy cruiser that boasts classic styling and a 1,202cc air-cooled, fuel-injected V-twin engine. This bike’s bigger mill produces an additional 24.6Nm of torque as compared to the standard-equipped Iron 883, which is still available for P700,000. Both variants are equipped with ABS.

To highlight its retro-looks, the Sportster Iron 1200 features ’70s-inspired tank graphics, a low-slung solo seat, a round speedometer, and a mini ape hanger handlebar. By the way, it took more than nine years before HD finally decided to come up with the more powerful Iron 1200 that landed on Philippine soil only a few weeks back.

Jay Bautista, Harley-Davidson of Manila’s general manager says the latest addition to the Sportster line comes available in three color schemes: Vivid Black for P800,000, and Twisted Cherry and Billiard White for P820,000. You can check them out at the brand’s Manila dealerships in Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City.

Here are additional images of the Sportster Iron 1200. Long live cruisers!
