2010 Trans Sport Show: Car enthusiasts unite

Here's another treat for car nuts

The country's longest-running auto show is now open, with the most tricked out cars and the most meticulously restored vintage automobiles vying for attention, all for the chance to take home the prestigious Trans Sport Show Cup Best of Show trophies.

"The 19th Caltex Trans Sport Show will be the most prestigious car show and competition the Philippines will see," said show organizer Sophie delos Santos. "Modern and classic cars will be on display at the same time showcasing the best in Philippine motoring for the last 50 years."

Over 80 cars are participating in the five-day event which ends on April 25. Car displays may be viewed at SM Megamall's Megatrade Halls 1 to 3 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On its 19th year, the Trans Sport Show is giving away two Best of Show awards to recognize the best contemporary and classic automobiles. As such, the 1918 Chevrolet 490 Light Delivery Truck won't be competing for the same award as the 2010 Nissan 370Z.

The show's highlights include a display of both classic and modern Jaguar sports cars in line with the British automaker's 75th anniversary celebration. On display are a white 1953 XK120, a black 1967 XKE E-type, and a 2006 Jaguar XK8. Also on display is a 2010 Jaguar XKR by Jaguar Cars, Inc.

Other activities during the 19th Trans Sport Show are a photography competition sponsored by Caltex with Techron, the search for the Ms. Caltex Trans Sport Show, a summer bikini show & DJ mixing by Ladder Events and Wave 89.1, a daily poker tournament by Speedlab and Premier Condoms, and the free swapping of car freshener by Glade Sport.
