From an initial list of 42 new vehicles from all over the world, to the 10 finalists we reported last month, the World Car Awards has revealed the top four finalists for the World Car of the Year.
"In the voting for this year's WCOTY award, we saw a very closely fought race that resulted in not three but four finalists," said World Car Awards co-chairperson Peter Lyon.
The four cars are the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the Porsche Boxster/Cayman, the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86, and the Volkswagen Golf.
According to the World Car Awards, this is the second consecutive year that Volkswagen is in the top three position and the fourth time since 2009. Last year, the Volkswagen Up! was named World Car of the Year.
The 2013 World Car of the Year will be named at the 2013 New York Auto Show on March 28.
