Flawless sound reproduction from their respective audio setup has earned a Mitsubishi Lancer EX and a Toyota Vios the top awards (see list of winners below) in the 1st DLS Philippines Open Competition last weekend.
The Lancer EX, owned by Arnel Enero, won in the Open Category where any entry with a DLS setup was allowed; and the Toyota Vios, owned by Rico Castillo, won in the Classic Category where entries can install only a specific DLS package without adding any other electronic component. This included a JVC KDR-705 head unit paired with a DLS CA-31 amplifier, RM 6.2 speakers, and a RW10 subwoofer. The Open category entrants had their own customized DSL-exclusive setup.
Judging was headed by Peter Flodqvist, chief of DLS technical support worldwide and certified as a sound quality competition judge by both the European Mobile Media Association and the International Auto Sound Challenge Association.
“This is my first time to judge a sound quality competition in the Philippines and I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen,” Flodqvist said. “I’m impressed with the quality of the setups and the installation. They’re all topnotch.”
