As Subaru promised last week, it has put on sale the all-new Forester in its home market of Japan today.
So, other than what Subaru has already revealed--like what powertrain the compact crossover will have--what other changes did the all-new Forester receive?
According to the Japanese carmaker, the fourth-generation Forester's on-road stability, ride quality and low noise level have been further improved due to its enhanced body rigidity. Its interior and door openings have also been enlarged to ensure comfort for all passengers and make ingress and egress from the vehicle easier, while a new "clean side sill" design protects the car's occupants from dirt when they get in or out of the car. Access to the Forester's cargo area is also easier, thanks to the power tailgate function.
Subaru's SI-Drive also makes its debut in the Forester lineup. With its control located on the steering wheel for easy access, the SI-Drive has both "Intelligent" and "Sports" modes for the naturally aspirated variants, while the turbocharged models get an additional mode ("Sports-Sharp").
Another new addition to the all-new Forester is Subaru's new "X-Mode" all-wheel drive-control system that "has been developed for driving on uneven or slippery road condition" with the engine, transmission and vehicle dynamic control responding accordingly.
An updated version of Subaru's unique EyeSight driving assist system is also available as an added option for both turbo and non-turbo models.
What features do you think will make it here when Subaru's local distributor, Motor Image Pilipinas, sells the all-new Forester here next year?
