We know that you have been clamoring for a Philippine edition of the popular Top Gear TV show. All we can say is that it's not quite possible at the moment. Not only do we lack the resources to at least come up with a decent production worthy of the Top Gear name, but TV shows are also not exactly our forte. So we choose to leave the boob tube to the expertise of our esteemed colleagues like Butch Gamboa, Ron de los Reyes, Ardie Lopez and Eggay Quesada.
But then, of course, there are filmmakers outside of the car industry who also want to produce their own take on motoring TV shows--filmmakers like Marnie Manicad, who studied filmmaking in London. The better half of broadcast journalist Jiggy Manicad, Marnie is set to launch her first international feature film, Dance Of The Steelbars, starring Dingdong Dantes.
But before that, Marnie is also set to debut a new weekly, 30-minute motoring show on GMA News TV called Turbo Zone. The show will air on Saturdays--starting October 22--from 9am to 9:30am, and will be hosted by comedian and car enthusiast Ramon Bautista and Top Gear Philippines editor in chief Vernon B. Sarne.
Marnie has released the first teaser for the show. We're proud to point out, by the way, that the Turbo Zone logo was designed by Top Gear Philippines art director Jaykee Evangelista. Watch the teaser and post your feedback in the comment box below.
