A few weeks ago, Mitsubishi revealed that it will be launching its all-new vehicle at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show this March. The Eclipse Cross, named after the iconic sports car, will sit in the lineup alongside the Mitsubishi ASX as a compact SUV. Now, the Japanese carmaker has just revealed some photos and the specs of its newest model.

The big news is that the Eclipse Cross will be driven by Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control four-wheel drive system. This is paired with strengthened rigidity via a three-point strut tower brace and structural bonding. It will be powered by two engines: a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline mill mated to a new CVT with eight-speed Sport Mode manual override, and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel fitted to a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

The exterior features similarities to stablemates like the ASX and the Outlander, most notably with the Dynamic Shield design up front and its strong character lines. Muscular wings and beefy fenders give it an aggressive look. In the back, it has high-mounted stretched lights with tubular LED and central LED brake lights that form a bar across the middle. The compact SUV will come in a new red color that has a highly-refined finish.

Inside, the horizontal dashboard has silver metal frames and a black/silver color scheme for a premium yet sporty look. Amenities include an infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a touchpad controller in the center console, and a heads-up display.

The Eclipse Cross measures 4,405mm in length, 1,805mm in width, and 1,685mm upwards, making it slightly bigger than the ASX. It will go on sale in the UK in early 2018. Do you guys want to see this new compact SUV on our shores?
