The local automotive industry saw the birth of Sojitz G Auto Philippines in July 2019 as Sojitz Corporation acquired the local distributorship of Chinese carmaker Geely Auto.
Earlier today, Top Gear PH assistant managing editor Jason Tulio got to have a quick chat with Sojitz marketing services section manager Ryan Isana at the Ningbo International Speedway in China. We were able to receive confirmation that Sojitz will indeed be bringing in a new challenger to the local market: the Geely Coolray crossover.
The Coolray will have a 1.5-liter turbopetrol engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and capable of 177hp and 255Nm of torque. The new crossover will also come with an array of driver-assist technologies, including a 360-degree-view monitor courtesy of four exterior cameras as well as an auto park assist feature.
Isana says that the Coolray’s top-of-the-line variant is expected to be priced between P1.2 million and P1.3 million in the Philippines. More affordable variants will also be available.
Sojitz expects to bring in the Geely Coolray by the fourth quarter of 2019, and tells us that it will be holding pre-selling events in the coming months. Are you excited to see this new crossover in the metal?
