This wild-looking thing is the Adamastor Furia, Portugal’s first supercar

It’s powered by a Ford-sourced 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6

Not prepared to stump up the circa P168m needed to buy an Aston Martin Valkyrie? Keen to eschew all of the established supercar makers in order to buy something for €1.6m (P101.6 million plus taxes) from an unknown startup? Great! You’ll be interested in the Adamastor Furia.

Described by its makers as the first Portuguese supercar, it looks a little bit like a Valkyrie (if you squint from some distance) and uses a Ford-sourced 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that puts out around 650hp and 570Nm of torque.

Thanks to a carbon-fiber chassis it weighs around 1,100kg before you stick any fluids or a driver in it, and the top speed is quoted as over 186mph with a 0-100kph time of around 3.5sec. Decent numbers, but hardly groundbreaking these days.

Adamastor says the Venturi effect floor contributes to a downforce figure of 1,000kg at 250kph, and there’ll be ABS and traction control to help keep the Furia pointing in the right direction. Just 60 units will be built (if Adamastor can find enough buyers) and the company says that it wants to be competing with “Aston Martin and its Valkyrie, but also brands like Pagani, Koenigsegg, Rimac.” Ambitious.

Adamastor is based just north of Porto and currently makes carbon-fiber bodywork and fuel tanks as well as wind turbine propellers and other carbon bits for a number of clients. Back in 2018, it unveiled plans for a sports car called the P003RL, but it has now decided that the growing supercar market is where it wants to compete. Good luck to them, we say.

But if you really want a pointy, track-focussed supercar that costs more than £1m, uses another company’s V6 engine, and comes from a country that you don’t really associate with carmaking… would you have this or the Praga Bohema?
