Planning to by a brand-new ride for the family to kick off 2019? If safety is a major concern to you, the Nissan Terra might be worth a look.

The Japanese carmaker’s first foray into the highly competitive midsize SUV segment passed its ASEAN NCAP crash tests with flying colors. It scored 44.70 points for adult occupant protection (AOP), 20.79 for child occupant protection (COP), and 17.69 points in the safety assist category. Its total score was 83.17 points.

The result for each category is a five-star ASEAN NCAP ranking, and the model drove away with a five-star overall rating as well. Impressive stuff. Below is the video of the Terra’s ASEAN NCAP crash test.

What variant was used for the crash tests? The ASEAN NCAP had its hands on a 2WD unit equipped with a 2.3-liter engine. It packs six airbags, as well as safety features like a seatbelt reminder system, an electronic stability control, a lane departure warning system, and the company’s new Intelligent Rearview Mirror system.

Nissan’s new midsize SUV has been available in the Philippines since May of this year. We’ve driven it and we’re impressed by its good ride, utility, and overall capability. Are you considering the Terra as your family’s next ride?
