Aston Martin has revealed a special version of its rather gorgeous DB12, and it is thus: behold the Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition, which celebrates 60 years since a DB5 made its big screen debut in...now, what’s that filmed called again? Mary Poppins? No. Not that.

While the name escapes us for the moment, the Aston in it doesn’t—because it was a classic, whose DNA now resides in the 4.0-liter V8 super GT you see before you. This DB12 has been to Q’s finishing school, which is why it looks rather special.

So where is the original 1964 DB5 from? I wanna say My Fair Lady? No, not that, either. That film featured loads of gadgets, and this one instead pays homage via the now-famous Silver Birch colorway, 21-inch multi-spoke alloys finished in a diamond treatment, black calipers, gold side strakes, and a special treatment for the Aston Martin logo.

The leather sports seats inside the DB12 Goldfinger have been treated to a Prince of Wales check perforation pattern that gives a subtle nod to the main character from this mystery movie. Wait...it’s The Pink Panther! No, that doesn’t seem right.

Naturally, what with it being called the Goldfinger Edition, there are actual 18k gold-plated interior accents on the drive mode dial, roller controls, and gear selector. Gold fibers were also weaved into the carbon fiber.

Special mention goes to the eight of hearts embroidered into the sun visors, a reference to a scene in...that’s it, A Hard Day’s Night! Oh, no, still not wrong. Well, that film. Buyers also get a custom car cover, a presentation box for the key, and a bottle of 2007 Bollinger with four exclusive glasses, among other luxurious gifts.

Nothing’s been touched on the V8 powering the DB12, so there’s the not-at-all regular 671hp and 800Nm of torque that appears in non-Goldfinger cars. This is enough, because it allows 0-100kph in just 3.6 seconds and a 325kph top speed.

Aston Martin is building only 60 units of this Goldfinger DB12. “It is an incredible occasion to be able to recognize six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition, and pay homage to the very first, and perhaps most famous Aston Martin Bond car,” said brand and commercial boss Marco Mattiaci.

“Incorporating these subtle but impactful touches, developed by our own ‘Q’ department, has created a very unique offering—one that will be adored by Bond fans across the world.”

Of course! The film is From Russia with Love! Phew, got there in the end.
