Changan Philippines had added a plug-in hybrid sedan to its lineup—introducing the Nevo A05. Priced at P1.195 million, it’s expected to go head-to-head with the BYD Seal 5 DM-i and the incoming Toyota Ativ HEV. All these electrified sedans come in at under P1.2 million, but the Chinese carmaker looks to beat the competition with a more refined look and a fully loaded package.
Upon first glance, the Nevo A05 looks taller than most sedans in its class. That higher stance is complemented by a minimalist design that sees thin headlights and even thinner grille. There are no design curves or any prominent accents—just a simple design language with no frills. The body sits on 17-inch alloys, which show off a relatively louder look, but still nothing too crazy.
The exterior is what anyone would expect from a Chinese-branded car: Minimal buttons with a large, 13.2-inch center display. However, the steering wheel has a more pentagonal shape, adding some distinction to the Nevo A05.

The vehicle’s hybrid system is built around a 1.5-liter BlueCore engine and a decently sized 18.4kWh battery. Mated to a dedicated hybrid transmission, the Nevo A05 makes 212hp and 330Nm of torque. Changan advertises a combined driving range of 1,250km—10km more than what BYD touts on its Seal 5 DM-i. 130 of those kilometers can then be driven on pure electric power.
Offered in one variant, the Nevo A05 packs a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. Namely, functions like adaptive cruise control, lane departure and change alerts, forward collision warnings, and more all come standard on the sedan. There is also a 360-degree camera system with a recording function.
How does Changan’s new hybrid sedan sound so far? Buyers can save up to P55,000 if they pick up their new Nevo A05 before the end of October.
