Chavit Singson has officially entered the local automobile industry with the arrival of GAC Motor, the Chinese automotive brand that he is bringing into the country through Legado Motors, Inc. (LMI). Singson was recently appointed as the exclusive distributor.
According to the press release, Guangzhou Automobile Motor Corporation Limited (GAC Motor) was founded in 2008 and now has four plants assembling vehicles in Guangzhou, Huangzhou, Yichang, and Xinjiang.
“Throughout its history, GAC Motor has been globally competitive in manufacturing top-quality engines and vehicles,” read the official statement, which also stated that all GAC models have received five-star ratings in China Automotive Technology and Research Center’s China-New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) crash test—the only cars to do so. GAC Motor ranked number one in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study for five consecutive years, too, from 2013 to 2017.
The models unveiled during the event were the GA4 sedan (available in 1.5-liter manual and 1.3-liter gas turbo automatic transmissions, the GS4 subcompact SUV, the GA8 executive sedan (available in four- and five-seater variants), the GM8 premium seven-seater minivan, and the flagship model, the GS8 large SUV (available in 4x2 and 4x4 variants).
