After making the Corvette officially available in the Philippines last year, Chevrolet Philippines has now followed that up by revealing the Camaro at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) this week.

The good news is that it’s going to be cheaper than the top V8 variants of its main rival, the Ford Mustang. The Camaro will be sold in the Philippines for P3,298,888. This makes it around P200,000 cheaper than the 5.0 GT Fastback.

The catch? Well, the new PH-spec Camaro Turbo 3LT RS won’t come with a big-displacement V-type engine. Instead, it gets a 2.0-liter turbo with 275hp and 398Nm, mated to an eight-speed paddle-shift automatic. Compared with the Mustang’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost variant (P2,838,000), the Camaro is a fair bit pricier, then. We reckon Chevrolet doesn’t want a bigger-engined Camaro to compete directly with the V8 Corvette in the Philippine market.

Aside from the turbo engine, the Camaro is equipped with the RS package, which includes a decklid spoiler, 20-inch wheels, and an RS badge on the grille. Inside, the MyLink infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a nine-speaker Bose sound system.

Do you fancy the 2.0-liter Camaro? Or are you hoping that Chevrolet will also bring in a musclier V6 or V8 variant? Let us know in the comments.
