Chinese carmaker GAC has just unveiled the adorably rugged Aion UT Cross at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Off the bat, it doesn’t look too different from the fully electric hatchback we have in the Philippines, but there are a few key modifications.

The most important one is its new height, which now stands 20mm taller than the hatchback. Overall, this crossover version looks more grown-up than the standard Aion UT, with wider 225mm tires and new blacked-out wheels to boot.

It attempts to trade cuteness for ruggedness with matching black wheel arches, new roof rails, and an additional garnish on its front bumper. Notably, there are no changes to its drivetrain and powerplant. While this is not a rally-ready EV, it is still a clean build.

This also means that its standard 60kWh battery is on deck, with 201hp on tap for propulsion. For our market, the Philippine-spec Aion UT is equipped with a 44.13kWh battery, which powers its 134hp single-motor system.

Trunk space, however, remains unchanged across variants and countries. Both the European and Philippine Aion UT can accommodate an impressive 440 liters of cargo in their rear compartments. GAC also promises that its spacious cabin is uncompromised in this new version. That is a welcome reassurance, as the Aion UT’s legroom is one of its most significant strengths.

GAC is planning to roll out its new crossover in the United Kingdom next year. There is no word on whether the Aion UT Cross will make its way to other markets, but we’ll keep an eye out for any official announcements. In the meantime, let us know if you’d like to see this cute crossover in the Philippines.
