The Geely Coolray has received yet another quiet update. Last year, Geely silently updated the Coolray for the Philippine market with a facelift and performance upgrades, and for a few months, it went largely under the radar.

This year, the subcompact crossover SUV gets another redesign, featuring an updated exterior and some interior upgrades. This facelift is currently available in China and parts of the Middle East, but here’s what you can expect if Geely decides to bring this model here.

On the outside, the first thing you’ll notice is the newly designed grille. The updated Coolray sports black cladding on the bumper, accentuated by silver accents on both ends. The rear bumper also gets an update, ditching the red reflectors in favor of silver L-shaped accents. You still get the same tomahawk-style 18-inch wheels, but finished in all black instead of brushed silver and gray.

Inside, the dashboard gets a bigger 14.6-inch display. There are also updated sun visors featuring a translucent design inspired by sunglasses. Aside from those changes, the cabin remains the same—you still get sporty front seats with ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, and 72-color ambient lighting.

The powertrain features the same setup as the previous update—a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. There’s no electrification to be seen here. Output remains at 172hp and 290Nm of torque, with a 0-to-100kph time of 7.6sec and fuel consumption of around 17km/L.

Safety features also remain mostly unchanged, with the addition of autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and intelligent high-beam control.

This first-generation Coolray has undergone multiple updates—both in appearance and features—since it launched globally in 2018. While Geely has improved the Coolray’s fuel economy, many motorists have been clamoring for hybrid technology to further improve the crossover’s fuel efficiency.

With that said, would you want this new facelift to arrive in the Philippines, or would you rather wait for what Geely has in store for a second-generation launch?
