Great Wall Motor (GWM) has been making a lot of noise lately. Aside from announcing even longer warranties for its models, it also previewed two new models we can expect soon.
Set to debut at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, the Chinese automaker will launch a 4x4 and a luxury minivan soon. The models in question are the Haval MengLong and WEY Gaoshan.

GWM Haval MengLong

Known as the Haval Raptor in some parts of the world, the MengLong is a compact crossover with old-school SUV looks. But despite not having a rugged body on frame chassis, GWM says it remains capable off-road. It has a ‘minimum’ ground clearance of 200mm, has a wading capacity of 560mm, and it’s even available with a rear differential lock. That's something off-roaders will appreciate when the going gets (very) rough.
Interestingly, the only powertrain available is a plug-in hybrid system. It packs a total system output of 378hp and 750Nm of torque. It also has a battery range of 145km and a total range of over 1,000km.
GWM WEY Gaoshan

At over five meters long, the WEY Gaoshan appears to be directly aimed at a certain luxury minivan from Toyota. If you’re wondering about the WEY name, it’s part of the GWM umbrella that caters to the luxury segment. WEY is derived from GWM’s chairman, Wei Jianjun.
Features of interest? It’s got powered ottoman seats in the second row, acres of leather and soft touch materials, and dual sunroofs. There’s also a massive screen at the front that serves as the instrument cluster and infotainment system, along with a Harman/Kardon sound system.
Like the Haval MengLong, it’s powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Combined output is rated at 480hp and 762Nm of torque. All-wheel drive is standard across the range.
Given the powertrain and specifications, it will be interesting to see how GWM Philippines prices these two models. We’ll know more about these PHEV models once we see them in the metal at MIAS 2024.
