A couple of weeks ago, we shared that Dodge had created the most powerful muscle car ever with the Challenger SRT Hellcat with an output of 707hp and 881Nm from its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. Unfortunately, the American carmaker hadn’t provided any timed runs of the car at the time.
Well, Dodge has finally announced the National Hot Rod Association-certified quarter-mile time of the Challenger SRT Hellcat: 11.2 seconds at 200kph with its stock Pirelli P275/40ZR20 P Zero production tires. With street-legal drag radials, its time dropped to just 10.8 seconds.
"It wasn't long ago that a 10-second-car was a full-on race car," said Dodge and SRT brands president and chief executive Tim Kuniskis. "The new 2015 Dodge Challenger raises the bar to a level some of us never thought we'd see. With the new Challenger SRT Hellcat, we're reaching deep into our history and bringing back the notion from the muscle car era of the street and strip dual-purpose car. Not only can Challenger run 10 seconds on the drag strip, but you can also fit your family and drive cross country. This new Challenger is the ultimate GT muscle car."
