It looks like Hyundai isn’t done bringing new sedans to Philippine shores just yet.
Just months after it brought in the all-new Accent, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI)—the Korean car manufacturer’s official local distributor—is teasing an all-new arrival to our market over social media. It’s scheduled to be unveiled later this week on January 31, and we think it’s the Reina.
Not familiar with the nameplate? That’s because the Reina—a subcompact sedan packing a 1.4-liter engine capable of a 94hp and 132Nm of torque—is mainly a Chinese-market offering courtesy of the company’s partnership with the BAIC Group.
Anyway, HARI posted the following photo on its official Facebook page earlier today. The caption is merely January 31st, and the teaser copy reads: “R you ready to meet the one?” The photo also reveals the top end of a small sedan.
From there, one simply has to spot the similarities between the photo HARI provided and the Reina. Frankly, we think the character lines on the side and hood are a dead giveaway. The image’s text (R for Reina, probably) helps support this theory as well.
Is Hyundai’s new mystery sedan the Reina, or is it something else entirely? We’ll find out the answer soon enough.
