Hyundai had quite the week with the reveal of not one but two electrified crossovers in the country. Landing in the Philippines are the Tucson Hybrid and the Santa Fe Hybrid.
It’s not the first time the South Korean brand has brought in electrified vehicles in the country. However, these two crossovers represent a more serious push for its gas-electric models.

But in this instance, it’s the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid we’ll take a deep dive first. So, if you’re curious with what it has to offer, we suggest you hang around.
The hybrid Santa Fe only comes in one flavor. It’s the range-topping Calligraphy variant with all the bells, whistles, and leather trimmings on board. Alongside the gas-powered model, there’s little to distinguish them from the outside.
Both wear the same trim, ride on black wheels, and have smatterings of H-patterns everywhere. You won’t even find a hybrid badge on it anywhere. The only clue here is a slightly different wheel design from the pure gas-powered version.
Inside, it’s, surprise surprise, identical to the 2.5T Calligraphy. However, it does get unique displays on the instrument panel and hybrid-related information in the infotainment system. This being the range-topper, it comes with captain chairs in the second row.
Its seats are trimmed in Nappa leather, along with Power Relaxation Seats, and seat heaters and coolers for the front occupants. There’s also memory seating for the driver, which should come in handy when more than one person uses the same car. There’s even fingerprint recognition and a sterilization tray in there.
Under the hood is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine that’s then paired with an electric motor. The engine alone makes 178hp while the motor puts out 64hp. The result is a total system output of 232hp and 367Nm of torque. All-wheel drive is standard.
The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid has something called e-Dynamic Drive and e-Comfort Drive. e-Dynamic Drive lets the electric motor assist in handling and acceleration, while e-Comfort Drive helps control body motions. Interesting stuff.
As for pricing, the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid 1.6T HEV Calligraphy AWD (yes, that’s its full name) retails for P3,330,000.
