Back in 2015, Isuzu Philippines beefed-up its presence in the local pickup scene by fitting the D-Max with the company's new, more powerful 3.0-liter engines. And now, the popular Japanese workhorse gets a host of new equipment upgrades to go along with all that extra power in the form of the latest D-Max X-Series.

Available exclusively with the vehicle's 3.0-liter 4x2 models, the new D-Max X-Series features a new aerodynamics package which includes special side skirts, a cargo spoiler on top of the bed, new 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels and—most notably—a gun-metallic radiator grille with a bold, red Isuzu badge and red stripes. Inside, the exterior's red accents carry over to the cabin via red stitching on black leather seats. It's a sporty overall new look and we dig it.

The D-Max X-Series will be powered by the aforementioned 3.0-liter 4JJTI-TC diesel engines capable of 161hp and 380Nm, while either a five-speed automatic or manual handles shifting duties. You can drive home the D-Max X-Series 4x2 LS MT for P1.260 million, while the 4x2 LS AT variant goes for P1.330 million.

To further entice potential customers, the Japanese carmaker is including a variety of Under Armour products to go with every D-Max X-Series purchase. Included in the deal are shirts, sports polos, towels, bags and other products from the global sports apparel maker.

Isuzu Philippines president Hajime Koso says the X-Series modifications address the lifestyle aspect of owning a D-Max. "There is no denying that the Isuzu D-MAX is an ideal vehicle for leisure activities and is also a highly capable workhorse" he said at the launch. "So now, no other pickup truck available in the local market can offer the combination of utility, reliability, versatility and high style that the D-MAX X-Series does."

All in all, the new accessories and look fit the burly Isuzu pickup's rugged demeanor perfectly. If you're looking for an edgy vibe to go with your new pickup, the X-Series might appeal to you.
