A fine collaboration between fellow Italians

Maserati spares no expense when it comes to dressing up its vehicles in silk and other fine materials. In a partnership with Italian luxury fashion label Ermenegildo Zegna, the carmaker designed Zegna-inspired interiors for the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. Both vehicles will spell even more opulence through their stylish cabins.

The interior features Zegna’s silk in an anthracite hue, paired with either black, natural or red Poltrona Frau leather, accentuated by gray stitching. The seats will be the first to clue you in that this is a special vehicle. Attention is immediately drawn to silk inserts in the center, which extend all the way to the back.

Look to the side and you’ll see that there are also Zegna touches on the door panels. Again, this part of the vehicle is covered in silk jersey from the luxury clothing brand. The lining of the roof and the sunshades are likewise covered in the same fabric. Whichever option you choose, you’ll perceive that the materials complement each other well.

Since vehicles require a tougher material on seats and other components, Zegna had to produce a special type of silk for this project. Extra care is needed to make these elements. In fact, it takes more than one month just to create one seat.

This isn’t the first time that the Italian brands have worked together. A similar collaboration was formed between the two a few years ago. The first phase had a limited run, with only 100 units produced with these interior options. Now on its second phase, the partnership will be available on the 2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli.
