Mazda Philippines has been busy as of late. Fresh off the launch of the new CX-5, the brand has now unveiled the latest addition to its growing lineup, and it’s its first-ever plug-in hybrid: the all-new Mazda CX-80.
The new CX-80, as the name implies, sits somewhere in between the CX-90 and CX-60 in terms of size, measuring just a smidge under five meters long. Unsurprisingly, the styling is very similar to that of its crossover siblings. But as mentioned, the CX-80 is Mazda’s first-ever plug-in hybrid, so the main differences are found under the hood.

The Mazda CX-80 packs the new e-Skyactive PHEV powertrain, comprising a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder gasoline engine churning out 192hp and 261Nm of torque and a single electric motor producing 175hp and 270Nm. Power is provided by a 17.8kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery. In total, the system outputs 323hp and 500Nm, making this the most powerful model in the local lineup.

The CX-80 gets a torque converter-less eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive layout. Specifically, Mazda’s i-Activ AWD, a rear-wheel-biased system.
Let’s look at more numbers: 0-100kph in 6.8sec, 65km EV range (WLTP), and a 2.5-hour charging time with a 7.2kW AC charger. A 3.5kW portable charger is also available, which tops up the battery in seven hours.
As with all newer Mazdas, the i-Activsense suite of safety features is available, and it includes front-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

Three variants are available at launch, starting with the base seven-seater priced at P4.18 million. The mid-spec Premium trim retains the seven seats with a few more niceties and comes with a P4.23 million price tag. The range-topping Exclusive gets, well, an exclusive six-seater configuration and stickers for P4.28 million. The plug-in hybrid powertrain is standard across the range.
All purchases come with Mazda’s Free Service Plan that covers periodic maintenance at six-month or 10,000km intervals for up to five years or 100,000km, whichever comes first. The vehicle also gets a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, while the hybrid battey gets a separate eight-year warranty. You can check out the prices below.
