The 2024 Beijing Motor Show (Auto China 2024) is in full swing, and it’s not just Chinese carmakers taking center stage during the festivities—Japanese brands are also taking their turns under the spotlight.
After Toyota, it’s now Mazda’s turn to unveil its newest offering. The carmaker has now presented the new EZ-6 at Auto China, the first in a series of new EVs for the Japanese marque. It’s rather sleek and resembles a snazzier Mazda 6 plastered with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300’s grille. It’s styled based on the theme ‘Authentic Modern’ and embodies Mazda’s ‘Soul of Motion’ design philosophy.

The EZ-6 will be available as both a fully electric car and a plug-in hybrid. The former is expected to have a maximum range of about 600km, while the latter will supposedly be capable of running over 1,000km on just one full tank. As with most Mazdas, it will

Mazda has yet to reveal other specifics, but it did confirm that the EZ-6 will be rear-wheel-drive. The car will also be equipped with advanced safety and driver-assist features. Mazda also mentioned that the BEV will have a 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear.

In addition to the EZ-6, the carmaker has also unveiled the Mazda Arata concept. This crossover-looking thing wears Mazda’s signature Kodo design language, with a sleek exterior featuring minimal lines and an overall futuristic look. It’s based on the design theme ‘Soulful + Futuristic x Modern.’
No further details were provided for the Arata concept, but Mazda did confirm that it will be mass-produced as the second EV in China by the end of 2025. The EZ-6 will be launched first by the end of 2024. How do you like Mazda’s new EV, readers?
