The fully electric MG 4 hatchback could be getting a refresh for 2026, as a new variant has just been approved by the Department of Energy. The agency’s list of recognized electric vehicles has revealed an intriguing ‘Urban Luxury’ configuration, but the car’s exact specifications suggest that this may actually be an entry-level offering.

Based on the spec-sheet attached, the new 4 has been equipped with a basic seven-inch TFT digital instrument cluster; however, it also sports an improved 12.8-inch main infotainment display. The bigger screen was one of the highlighting features of the facelifted model we saw at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show.

Other specs reveal a powerplant built around a 42.8kWh battery, which churns out 161hp and 250Nm of torque. These are all smaller outputs than the currently available 4 models, which further reinforces the idea that this is an all-new base trim.

With a full charge, this electric hatch should achieve 325km in driving range, which also isn’t too far from the performance of the currently available entry-level Standard variant. That one comes with a slightly longer 350km of range.

2024 MG MG4 Standard

MG Philippines has yet to confirm if a new 4 is indeed arriving, but as mentioned, the 2026 version has landed regionally. Given the basic finishes, we can expect this new 4 to replace or undercut the existing STD model, which currently costs P1,468,888.
