The 2026 MG 4 made its appearance at the Bangkok International Motor Show this year. This is not the second-generation hatchback being released in Australia, but a refreshed version of the model we currently have in the Philippines, which features updates to the interior and exterior.

The newest refresh of the EV hatchback features a bigger 12.8-inch touchscreen compared to the previous model’s 10-inch display, and still features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has an upgraded 10.2-inch instrument screen, a welcome improvement from the previous version’s 7-inch instrument cluster, which we found to be way too cramped.

The interior also gets a redesign that moves the rotary gear selector more towards the center console. There’s also an addition of two cupholders. The higher trim also gets a 360-degree camera, while the lower trim features the standard reverse camera.

Styling-wise, not much has changed. The dimensions remain the same at 4,287mm long, 1,836mm wide, and 1,504mm tall. The rear still features those twin aero spoilers with a ducktail wing separating the taillights. The front fascia still has that sharp, sporty look. The only change we can spot on the exterior is the updated 17-inch wheels with the black and silver trim.

The updated MG 4 is still powered by a battery and electric motor combo that delivers similar performance to the current version in our market. The base trim is a 50kWh battery and can deliver 170hp and 250Nm of torque, while the higher trim gets a 62kWh battery and can put out 245hp and 350Nm of torque. The base trim gets a range of 450km, while the higher trim gets more out of a full charge with 540km.

The MG 4 in Thailand comes in two variants: the D Standard Range and the X Long Range, with the X Long Range MG’s i-Smart intelligent operating system. The updated Philippine prices haven’t arrived yet, but the MG 4 in Thailand starts at TBH669,900 (around P1.23 million).
