MG could be adding some luxury to its Philippine lineup with the MG RX9 SUV and its performance sedan, the MG 7.
The pair were granted homologation papers from the Land Transporation Office last October, which signals a probable entrance into the local market.

The RX9 could mark MG’s stake in the luxury SUV category in the Philippine car market. Powered by a 2.0-liter Net Blue engine that runs with 201hp and 350Nm of torque, the car’s luxury is defined by its cream-colored leather interior with wood accents.
The exterior is put together by sharp angles that widen into bigger, wing-like shapes. What’s soaring through the air is a six-seater that comes in at 4,983mm long, 1,967mm tall, and 1,786mm wide. Supporting a 4WD drivetrain are 21-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that should be durable in city and overland driving.

Smaller but quicker, the MG 7 is the brand’s performance sedan that should look just right next to the MG Cyberster. Sporting a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine up front and a four-piece exhaust system in the back, the 7 was built for speed. At its peak, the MG 7 produces 261hp and 405Nm of torque.
Those numbers were able to get the car a Guinness World Record for altitude driving, having reached a height of 5,978.17m back in 2023 in the Laqiongla Mountains in China.

The MG 7 summited that record in a five-seater, motorsport-themed interior that features racing seats for the driver and front passenger. It is unclear however if the car was on the ‘sport’ drive mode, or at what point the ‘Super Sport’ button was pressed.
It is yet to be confirmed when these MG vehicles would make a local debut, or how much either would cost. But with how fast these cars can run, we’re sure they’re coming fast.
