“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” We feel like we use this phrase a lot, but we suppose this ‘new’ model might be the best use case yet: the facelifted Mitsubishi Mirage.

Yes, you read that right. The Mirage—one of Mitsubishi’s most popular models in our market—has received yet another minor change. It might be one of the oldest platforms currently available in the Philippines at this point, but who cares? People still buy it, and it appears for the Japanese carmaker, that’s all that matters. Anyway...

This latest facelift beefs up the Dynamic Shield on the Attrage, as it is called in other markets. A large chunk of black plastic now adorns (not really) the front end, taking the place of all the chrome trim that the previous front fascia got. It makes for a more rugged, angrier look on the Mirage.

Now, before we completely knock on Mitsubishi for this minor change, it did give the Mirage a few mechanical upgrades. It still has the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine under the hood that delivers 78hp at 6,000rpm and 100Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, but other publications have noted that this powertrain now meets Euro 6 standards.

In addition to the now more environment-friendly engine, the Mirage now also has advanced safety features like forward-collision warning and mitigation as well as lane-departure warning available as options.

We still have no word on whether or not this will make it to Philippine soil, but considering how popular the Mirage still is here in our market, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Mitsubishi Motors Philippines eventually decides to bring this new model in. What about you guys, though—what do you think of this newly updated Mirage? The comments section is open.
