Save these dates if you’ve been waiting for the local arrival of the Mitsubishi XForce: The new five-seat crossover will make its Philippine debut on June 28, with deliveries of units set to begin on July 5.

Teaser for the Philippine launch of the Mitsubishi XForce

This spiritual successor to the ASX is somewhere between the Yaris Cross and the Corolla Cross in size, measuring 4,390mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,660mm tall. Its listed ground clearance of 222mm is higher than that of the Montero Sport by 4mm. Mitsubishi has made it capable of off-road driving to a reasonable extent via four drive modes: Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has not released powertrain details for the local XForce just yet. In Indonesia, it packs a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 103hp and 141Nm via a continuously variable transmission.

What the carmaker has confirmed is that our XForce will get an eight-speaker Yamaha sound system. Mitsubishi’s ‘speed compensated volume’ and equalizer functions also ensure “clear, well-balanced sound even when driving on rough roads.”

No official pricing has been released at the time of writing. The price of entry in the Vietnamese market is equivalent to around P1.4 million, but we’re crossing our fingers for a lower price tag here. How much do you think the XForce should cost to be competitive in the subcompact-crossover market?
