It seems like only yesterday when the current-gen Suzuki Vitara made its Philippine debut. Now, here we are writing about a refresh less than a year later.
The thing is, the update is for the UK market where the Vitara has been available since 2015, and chances are it'll be a while before we see improvements to locally available units of the subcompact crossover.
Over in Europe, the Vitara comes packing either a 1.0-liter or 1.4-liter Boosterjet turbocharged engine replacing the usual 1.6-liter gasoline. The 1.4 produces 138hp and 220Nm, and Europe also gets four-wheel-drive variants and a manual transmission. Too bad none of this is available here.
Outside, the new Suzuki Vitara flaunts new-look alloys, a redesigned grille (with more chrome accents) and bumper up front, as well as more futuristic-looking LED taillight designs. Inside, European customers are looking at more soft touch materials around the instrument panel, which carries a new design with a central information display.
Higher variants also get new safety features like Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Traffic Sign recognition, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear cross traffic alert. No pricing details have been revealed for the new Vitara yet.
We're really digging those new wheels and taillights. We know the local debut wasn't too long ago, but hopefully Suzuki Philippines can bring in a refresh sooner rather than later.
